ASM Research Trust Fellowship
MICROBIOLOGY ADVANCING AUSTRALIA

In line with its charter to advance the science of microbiology, a decision was taken by Council of The Australian Society for Microbiology during the late eighties to establish a research fund to assist some of our younger members at critical times of their careers. After the publication of Frank Fenner's The History of Microbiology in Australia, it was thought that the time was appropriate to launch the Appeal fund. The ASM Research Trust was finally established in March 1994 and the Appeal was launched in September 1994. The first Fellowship was awarded in 1995 for 1996.

In awarding this Fellowship, the Society aims to promote excellence in microbiology through support to younger microbiologists for specified research projects leading to career advancement; or to Australian microbiologists returning from overseas studies to assist them to re-establish their careers in Australia.
